The Telangana Rashtra Samithi has demanded the government to take steps to provide Z-plus category security to party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, amid reports of threat to the latter’s life.

TRS floor leader E. Rajender and deputy leader T. Harish Rao said that they had information about conspiracy being hatched to ‘eliminate’ Mr. Rao. He expressed concern that a series of ‘threatening telephone calls’ to Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao continued unabated and described the reported attempts to harm the TRS president who is championing the cause of Telangana people as ‘an act of cowardice’. The TRS would submit all the information including the proof it had to the police.

Mr. Rajender wanted the government to arrange adequate security to Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao failing which it would have to take the responsibility for the consequences. “It is foolish to assume that creation of Telangana State can be stopped by harming Mr. Rao,” he said adding any such incident would result in widespread repercussions.
