Tributes paid to Kandukuri

Several programmes were organised on Saturday in connection with the 169th birth anniversary of social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu. The main event was held at Ananda Gardens where people paid floral tributes at the samadhi of Veeresalingam and his wife Rajyalakshmi.

City MLA Akula Satyanarayana and Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Mayor Pantam Rajani Seshasai, MLCs Somu Veerraju and Adireddy Apparao were among those who paid tributes to the social reformer and participated in a prayer meeting organised by Hitakarini Samajam founded by Kandukuri Veeresalingam.

Endowments Assistant Commissioner Ramesh Babu, who is heading Hitakarini Samajam, under which Sri Kandukuri Veeresalingam Theistic (SKVT) College, junior colleges, high schools, Srimati Kandukuri Rajyalakshmi College for Women are running, participated. He appealed to people’s representatives to extend support to the educational institutions.

Later, Mr. Satyanarayana inaugurated the dining hall of SKVT College which was financially supported by philanthropist R. Subbaraju. College principal P. Srirammurthy, research scholar P.V.B. Sanjeeva Rao and others participated.

At Adikavi Nannaya University, its Vice-Chancellor M. Mutyala Naidu, Registrar E.N. Dhanunjaya Rao and others paid tributes to Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu.
