Union Minister for Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju said that the 526.24 acre tribal university that was proposed in Relli revenue village would become a reality as a result of the sacrifices of tribal farmers.
Mr. Ashok, who distributed 32 tractors under ‘Rythu Ratha’ scheme and house-site pattas of 2.50 cents each to 146 displaced families of Relli and Thammanna Meraka villages in Kothavalasa mandal on Monday, appreciated the district administration for acquiring the land prior to adoption of the Tribal University Bill in Parliament and said that the Centre would be sanctioning ₹400 crore for developing infrastructure.
Joint Collector Srikesh Lathkar said that the district had identified 200 acres of land for allotting the same to 178 displaced tribal families. The land would be allotted to each family once the ITDA, Parvathipuram, completed ground levelling works.
MLA Kolla Lalitha Kumari said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had, in addition to house-sites, agreed to sanction houses for the displaced tribal families. He asked the district officials to sanction loans under TRICOR to them.
Telugu Mahila president Sobha Hymavathi, ZP chairperson Sobha Swati Rani, MLCs Dwarapureddy Jagadish and G. Sandhya Rani, MLAs M. Geeta, K.A. Naidu, and B. Chiranjeevulu, TDP district president M. Chinnam Naidu and others were present.
Distributes cheques
Earlier, at the Collector’s Office Mr. Ashok distributed cheques each ₹4 lakhs to 14 persons killed by lightning between May and August this year and one in wall collapse and Rs. 5lakhs each to two victims of Agri Gold who committed suicide.
He also opened grievance cell exclusively for MNREGS.
