Tremors in Anantapur district

October 14, 2017 11:36 pm | Updated 11:36 pm IST - ANANTAPUR

Tremors were felt in four villages of the Beluguppa and Uravakonda mandals of the Anantapur district on Saturday evening scaring the villagers out of their houses.

Tremors were felt for around nine seconds in the Ramasagaram and Jeedipalli village of the Beluguppa mandal besides the Y. Rampuram and Mylarampalli villages of the Uravakonda mandal. All of them are adjacent villages and felt the tremors at the same time.

People rushed out as utensils and other articles started falling off the shelves. Some homes, it is reported, developed cracks on their outer walls.

First hand reports from the villages suggested that a few cement-topped roads had developed deep cracks and were damaged in sections and the traffic passing by the villages screeched to a halt.
