Mild tremors were experienced in Pamur and its surroundings bordering Nellore district on Sunday afternoon.

The tremors measured 2.2 on the Richter scale, D. Srinagesh, chief scientist, National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), told The Hindu . Panic-striken people came out of their houses after household articles moved from their original position in Pamur, Mopadu, Botla Gudur, and Kambaladinne in the mandal.

There was no loss to life or property.

Pamur sarpanch D.V. Manohar, who himself experienced the tremors, said: “We heard rumbling noise like that of a moving road-roller.”

Pamur had witnessed tremors and aftershocks for the 10th time in the last three weeks.

The frequent occurrence has been causing fears among the people even as seismologists have discounted the possibility of any devastation.
