Treasury operations to go online

March 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - TIRUPATI:

Be it payment of salaries to employees or disbursement of funds for various schemes, all government transactions will soon be made online.

After Guntur last month, Chittoor district has been selected for the soft launch of the project.

Hema Munivenkatappa, Special Secretary in the Finance department, at a review meeting with the district drawing officers here on Friday, announced that the same would be replicated in the other districts in a phased manner.

The new initiative would help monitor fund allocation, disbursement and reserve fund, right from the level of the Chief Minister to departmental heads and district Collector to mandal officials.

“While calculation of salaries, contingency bills, medical reimbursement etc. in any given office and their dispatch by the drawing officer to the treasury involves ten man days and the dedicated service of 2-3 employees, the same will be eliminated in the new system”, she explained.
