Police have drawn up elaborate plans to ensure smooth flow of vehicular movement on the Chennai-Kolkata and Addanki-Hyderabad highways in Prakasam district during the Krishna Pushkarams beginning on August 12.

All heavy motor vehicles from Chennai to Hyderabad would be diverted via Addanki, Narketpally and Nalgonda. Those heavy motor vehicles going towards Kolkata via Narketpally, Suryapet and Jaggayyapet during the pushkaram days, police said, adding other lesser capacity motor vehicles from Visakhapatnam side would be diverted via Repalle, Karlapalem, Bapatla and Chirala on the old Madras Road.

“We will ensure that heavy motor vehicles do not touch Guntur and Vijayawada during the 12-day pushkaram,” Special Branch Deputy Superintendent of Police U. Nagaraju said.

Meanwhile, Senior superintendent of Ongole postal division T.A.V. Sarma said those who could not make it to the river festival for different reasons could make bookings in all post offices for getting Krishna Jal packed in 500 ml bottles through speed post both within and outside the country.
