Two unidentified miscreants opened fire on a businessman and his wife with a country-made revolver, at Penugonda on Friday.
According to the police, Medapati Chiranjeevi Reddy, a moneylender and real estate agent from Penugonda, went to attend a marriage at Marteru along with his wife, Dhanalakshmi. While returning home on his motorcycle, the miscreants opened fire on the outskirts of Penugonda, in which Dhanalakshmi sustained head injury, while Chiranjeevi Reddy escaped with minor injuries.
‘Property issues’
She was rushed to a private hospital in Tanuku, from where she was referred to Vijayawada for better treatment. Her condition was said to be stable. The police suspected that property related issues might have led to the attack.
