A post of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in the apex scale equivalent to the Special Secretary to the Government of India has been created in Hyderabad to act as the cadre controlling authority for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.
The Centre has recently approved cadre restructuring in the I-T Department creating substantial number of posts at various levels in view of the increased work load and to improve tax administration and taxpayer services.
Accordingly, in view of bifurcation of the State, the post of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax is created in Vijayawada, in addition to Chief Commissioner of I-T based in Visakhapatnam, having administrative jurisdiction over Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore and Rayalaseema districts. The new Chief Commissioner will be assisted by the Administrative Commissioners stationed in Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and Kurnool, apart from which, 11 new Appellate Commissioner posts, with five of them in Hyderabad have also been created to expeditiously dispose appeals.
Corporate rangeIn view of increased corporate assesses, a new corporate range has been carved out from among the existing four Corporate Ranges in Hyderabad, together with new assessment ranges being made out in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ongole, Kadapa and Rajahmundry.
As a part of the process, new assessment commissioner charges have been created in Kurnool and Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, respectively.
A press release on Friday said that the orders to this effect were passed, giving the new jurisdiction to the authorities concerned and that they would be with immediate effect.
Copies of the new orders and the span of control have also been uploaded on www.incometaxhyderabad.
org and assessees may access the same for their information.
For clarifications/doubts, assesses may approach the public relations officers at Aayakar Bhavan and IT Towers in Hyderabad, as also their respective field officers. Copies may also be collected by tax practitioners, trade associations, industry bodies and chambers of commerce from the I-T offices.
Taxpayers may note the change in their jurisdictional assessing officer and quote the same while filing their returns, the release added.
