Conveying Dasara festival greetings to people, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his wish to witness an integral development of the State in the next five years especially on the energy and water security fronts and focus on the construction of the capital city Amaravati.
Mr. Naidu stated in an open letter that electricity tariffs would not be enhanced next year as a progression of the second phase of reforms in the energy sector that made the State power surplus.
Power cuts have become a thing of the past and transmission and distribution losses were reduced to single digits.
Emphasis had been laid on generating solar and wind energies on a larger scale than before and the energy savings achieved by the State won critical acclaim for it around the world.
‘State on the
growth path’
Plans were on the anvil to enable villages to produce renewable energy on their own and to store the surplus. For this, storage solutions were being worked out with the help of industry leaders.
The Chief Minister observed that the Polavaram project was part of water security to all and asserted that it would provide water through gravity by 2018. Interlinking of the Godavari and Krishna Rivers made the Krishna delta prosperous.
He stated that the government was able to give water to KC Canal, Galeru-Nagari, Telugu Ganga, Sriram Sagar, Handri-Neeva projects in spite of the holding of water by the upper riparian States of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Mr. Naidu sounded confident on achieving a 15 % growth rate in 2017-18, up from 11.72 % in the last financial year, which was more than double the national growth rate.
