Top official killed in road accident

Anantapur Additional Joint Collector T.A. Jayachander (57) was killed in a road accident on NH 44 in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mr. Jayachander and his son were returning from Kurnool in a Mahindra Bolero. Close to Vadiyampeta village of Garladinne mandal, the driver tried to overtake a truck when he lost control and hit a road divider.

The three were rushed to the government general hospital in Anantapur. Mr. Jayachander’s son and the driver sustained injuries whereas the AJC was declared brought dead. The injured are said to be out of danger.

The body of the AJC was shifted to indoor stadium in Anantapur. Collector D.S. Lokesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police S. Senthil Kumar and other officials paid homage to the deceased.
