Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Saturday said Tamil Nadu Government has agreed to depute its Revenue Secretary to discuss with him the issue of alleged encroachment of prime land near here belonging to Amaravati temple in Guntur in his State.
Mr. Rosaiah said he took up the matter with his Tamil Nadu counterpart M. Karunanidhi, who informed him that the State Revenue Secretary would be deputed to discuss it.
“The Revenue Secretary will be calling on me,” Mr. Rosaiah, which is on a one-day visit to the city for attending various functions, told reporters here.
The land stated to be worth millions of rupees has allegedly been encroached by some private persons.
Earlier, on his arrival at the airport, Mr. Rosaiah brushed aside the recent sweep of the assembly by-elections in Andhra Pradesh by Telangana Rashtra Samiti and BJP saying they had merely “retained” the seats.
“It is not a loss to Congress,” he said.
TRS had won 11 of the 12 constituencies in Telangana region in the recent by-polls necessitated by resignation of sitting MLAs in support of separate Telangana State demand.
BJP retained the other seat.
