All parties which have no reservations in working with the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) for achieving Statehood to the region will get equal importance in the forum, TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram has said.
“TJAC knows the importance of unity among political parties and other organisations working for Telangana and that’s the reason why we are taking on board all those who share the common goal of separate Statehood”, Prof. Kodandaram said on Sunday.
Speaking after flagging-off of a procession by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists from Sundarayya Park to Indira Park demanding the Centre to introduce Telangana bill in Parliament, he said the role of a national party such as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was crucial in the movement.
Appeal to youth
He appealed to the youth not to commit suicides out of distress on the Centre’s indecision on Telangana and instead asked them to fight for the cause.
Movement was the only way out to achieve statehood to the region, he stated.
Mr. Kodandaram said his presence at the rally clears all misconceptions that the BJP was not being given importance by the TJAC. Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya said mounting pressure on the Centre through a struggle would alone help the cause and not the suicides.
Leaders of Telangana Employees’ JAC also participated in the procession.BJYM activists held placards with photos of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi as “Telangana betrayer” and also raised slogans.
Interestingly, BJP State president G. Kishen Reddy failed to attend the programme.
Meanwhile, participating in the ‘Nagarabaata’ programme at Sitaphalmandi here, Telangana Rashtra Samithi legislator T. Harish Rao said those who were claiming to have played a role in the development of Hyderabad came here as paupers five decades ago. They prospered with the opportunities here.
