Four of the eleven persons dead in the >Tiruvallur wall collapse on Sunday are suspected to be natives of Nellore district. The collapse was reportedly triggered after a rainy night in the area. The Nellore district officials have started rescue operations with the identification process presently going on. Following instructions from the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the officials initiated efforts to help the families of the deceased.
District Collector N. Srikanth is monitoring the situation and has sent Nayudupeta RDO M.V. Ramana and Tada Tehsildar to the spot. The officials said that arrangements were being made to complete the post mortem to hand over the bodies to their relatives before tonight itself.
Preliminary reports reaching the district collectorate stated that the wall was built to a height of nearly 20 feet and it directly collapsed on to the huts below. The migrant construction workers were caught under the debris and succumbed to injuries.
