Unfazed by several JACs calling off their strike temporarily in the past few days, Samaikyandhra protestors in the city continued with their demonstrations here on Sunday. Rather, they borrowed themes for the agitations from the Dasara festivities.
As part of their demonstration at the YSR Congress protest camp near the TUDA circle, integrationists enacted a skit in which ‘Mahisasura Maridini’, a form of Goddess Durga, appeared to kill the protesters donning the masks of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Elucidating the skit to the media, Local MLA B. Karunakar Reddy said that this would be the punishment meted out to the politicians, who were yet to clear their stand on the State’s bifurcation and wanted to divide the State for political gains.
Relay fast continues
Meanwhile, activists of the ‘Vaddera’ community performed folk dances at the BC JAC protest camp near New Balaji Colony. Later, they took out a rally from the venue to the NTR Circle.
APNGOs continued with their relay hunger strike at their camp near RTC bus stand.
Women members of the Rashtriya Seva Samithi (RASS) took part in the relay hunger strike organised by the Tirupati Samaikyandhra JAC (SAPS) near the MCT office.
