Tirumala temple to be closed for 17 hours owing to lunar eclipse

Devotees will not be allowed entry into the Lord Venkateswara temple on Tirumala from Thursday 5 p.m. to Friday 10 a.m. on account of lunar eclipse, sources in the temple said.

The shrine would be closed an hour before sunset on Thursday and opened early on Friday. Priests would then conduct ‘cleansing’ of the temple, followed by pre-dawn rituals, including recitation of Suprabhatam.
