The famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara is getting decked up for the Durmukhinaama Ugadi.
The entire temple complex and its precincts are deluged with huge assortment of flowers. Donors from different parts of the country, particularly from Salem, Coimbatore, and Bengaluru volunteered themselves donating liberally huge quantities of flowers. Flowers have also been flown in from Thailand for the purpose. About seven tonnes of traditional flowers in addition to over one lakh cut flowers like roses, Chrysanthemum, gerbera, aster, anthuriums, carnationa, limonias, orchids, tube rose, liliums, heliconias, golden rod, bird of paradise and aspsaragus is estimated to have gone in, in the ornamentation of the monolithic temple complex.

Talking to The Hindu, TTD gardens Deputy Director S. Srinivasulu has said that about 150 florists from Bengaluru, Salem, and Hyderabad in addition to about 120 garden staff are currently engaged in the herculean task of decorating the temple complex. In addition to the floral work, the management has also taken up the mammoth task of decorating the monolithic edifice with large varieties of fruits.
The ‘Dasavatharams’ fashioned out with dry coconuts is all set to be the cynosure of all eyes, while the fruit pandal sorted out ornamentally with both black and white grapes is sure to win the hearts of the devout. A gargantuan image of an elephant completely made of varied flowers in addition to a hut made using Australian oranges, bananas, pumpkins and other varieties of fruits will be set up outside the main temple befitting the grand occasion, he said.
While the works relating to the fruit decoration which involves designing of frames, devising of supporting stands and fabrication has been initiated about a week ago, the floral decoration was taken up on . Taking advantage of the propitious occasion, the management is also determined to set up vertical gardens in front of the main temple complex on a permanent basis, says Mr. Srinivasulu.
