Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu should firmly seek special category status and raise the issue of irrigation projects being taken up by Telangana in his forthcoming meeting with the Prime Minister, said YSR Congress leader Botcha Satyanarayana here on Saturday.

It was time the Chief Minister took an assertive stand on the SCS, irrigation projects, and other promises made in the State Reorganisation Act, in the wake of confusing statements of the Union Ministers, he told the media here.

Union Minister Sidharth Nath Singh, in-charge of the BJP in the State, told the media that Mr. Naidu never pressed for special status, but only raised the issues mentioned in the State Reorganisation Act.

It exposed the double standards of the Chief Minister, Mr. Satyanarayana said.

Taking exception to the Chief Minister’s holiday secret tour abroad, the YSRC leader said that when people were suffering following drought and other issues, Mr. Naidu chose to go on a holiday.
