Mallikarjun, who operates a photocopy store in the city has increased his earnings in the last few months thanks to his affiliation with Amazon.in’s I Have Space Program (IHS). The programme has helped him double his income, enabling him and his family to lead a much better life.

In the city, Amazon.in has more than 100 such stores they partner with. And in Andhra Pradesh, Amazon.in has increased its IHS programme footprint by more than 65% in just one year.

Mr. Mallikarjun, who joined the programme in the second quarter of 2016, did everything possible to leverage the growth of e-commerce to scale greater heights. His dedication, diligence and strong sense of customer obsession have helped him achieve success in a short span of time.

Apart from his regular income from the photocopies business, his family now earns an additional ₹8,000-12,000 per month besides the fact that Mallikarjun has now created a new identity for himself as an ‘Amazon partner.’

Under the IHS, Amazon India partners with local store owners to provide pick up and delivery services to customers across different cities within a 2-4 km radius of their store. Since these local entrepreneurs understand their area well and have goodwill in their neighbourhood to efficiently deliver and receive products, Amazon.in has forged a partnership with them allowing them to supplement their regular income and generate more footfalls in their stores. On an average, Amazon India’s store partners deliver between 30 to 40 packages a day, earning a fixed amount per delivery.

The programme is open to all store owners who have the ability to service on foot or by a two-wheeler.

The only requirement is that the store owner should have sufficient manpower to make local deliveries during their off-peak hours and space for storage of the packages. The programme primarily consists of grocery, telecom, stationery, chemists, general stores and other modern trade outlets, to name a few.
