Three TDP leaders go on fast to oppose division of Andhra

December 17, 2009 06:46 pm | Updated 06:46 pm IST - Guntur (AP)

Three TDP leaders including former state Home Minister K Siva Prasad Rao began an indefinite fast at the Hindu College centre on Thursday here opposing the proposal to divide Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Prasad Rao feared that the division of the water of Godavari and Krishna rivers between Telangana and Andhra would pose major problems if the state is bifurcated.

The other two TDP leaders who accompanied Prasad Rao were Guntur District Telugu Desam Party president and MLA Pattipati Pulla Rao and Vinukonda TDP MLA G. V. Anjaneyulu.

Meanwhile, police today took four students fasting at the Nagarjuna University campus to the government general hospital here as their health deteriorated. They were administered saline and other fluids at the hospital.
