Three electrocuted in Srikakulam district

A Pall of gloom descended on SPR Puram of G. Sigadam mandal in Srikakulam district on Saturday following the electrocution of three persons after they touched a snapped live wire in fields in the village.

The victims were identified as Alisi Daliraju (25), Ramana (25) and Sai (13). According to police, Sai went for bath in a nearby pond and was electrocuted as stepped on a live wire that had fallen into the pond.

Daliraju and Ramana hurriedly jumped into the pond to rescue the boy and were electrocuted. Labour Minister K. Atchannaidu expressed shock over the incident and directed officials to extend maximum possible help to the victims’ families immediately.

Srikakulam Collector Gaurav Uppal visited the spot and directed officials to submit a detailed report on the incident. He promised the families that the government would pay compensation under the Apatbandhu scheme and other welfare programmes.
