Cautioning the people against the host of ‘impractical’ poll promises made by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu, YSR Congress president Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday sought a positive vote for all round development of the State by restoring “YSR’s golden rule”.
Addressing people during his impressive roadshows in Kandukur and Singarayakonda in Prakasam district, he exposed the track-record of Mr. Naidu in keeping poll promises.
Exuding confidence that his party would come to power with people’s overwhelming support, he said “65-year-old Chandrababu Naidu is promising the moon as this is going to be the last election for him and the TDP”.
He dubbed as unimplementable TDP’s poll promises like loan waiver to farmers and one job for a person in every household given the revenue deficit the residual state of Andhra Pradesh has been pushed into with Mr Naidu giving UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi a free hand to divide the State.
“Credibility is what Mr Naidu lacked and YSR had and that earned the latter a permanent place in the hearts of people,” he said, adding that “credibility is what I have inherited from my father. My conscience does not permit me to make impractical promises for the sake of votes and seats.”
However, he assured the agriculturists that he would do everything to make farming profitable by constituting a Rs. 3,000 crore market intervention fund and another Rs .2,000 crore fund to provide succour to peasants hit by droughts and floods alternately.
He also promised the peasants suffering due to spurious seeds and pesticides that he would ensure supply of good quality farm inputs including seeds and fertilisers and set up agriculture colleges for every two districts to transfer appropriate technology from lab to land to bring back happiness to the ryots.
He assured the youth that ''as an elder brother, I will do my best to ensure good job placements for the students passing out from colleges'', he said, dismissing the TDP's promise of one job each for the 3.5 crore households in the state. Mr Naidu was responsible for 65 PSUs turning red, rendered 26,000 workers jobless.
Reiterating that the five files he would sign if voted to power to ensure welfare of all sections of people, including farmers, women, students and old people, he said the Aarogyasri health insurance scheme would be improved to provide Rs 3,000 per month during the post-operative phase.
Power cuts would be a thing of the past, he said promising to ensure supply of 150 units of power for Rs 100 to poor households.
Recalling 48 lakh houses constructed during the erstwhile regime, he said 50 lakh houses would be constructed for the poor in the next five years. He promised to close down all belt shops and restrict sale of liquor after a through review of the excise policy to bring back smile on the faces of women.
