Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday predicted that a Third Front would form the next government at the Centre in 2014 general elections and not the Congress or the BJP-led alliances.
Mr. Naidu told media persons here on Monday that while the Congress had lost credibility to rule, the BJP was not picking up leaving the field open to the Third Front. Initially, he refused to respond to a question on developments in the BJP leading to the resignation of senior leader L. K. Advani saying it was an internal affair of that party. But later, Mr. Naidu said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s support was confined to some regions and his elevation would not have any impact in a State like Andhra Pradesh.
To a question, Mr. Naidu , said his party was prepared to move a no-confidence motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government. But it would be on its own terms and not for serving the self-interest of some parties, or enable some others to strike deals.
He said the party had decided to boycott the four ‘tainted’ Ministers’ responses to members’ queries in the Assembly till they were dismissed. “They have no moral right to continue.”
Asked to comment on the demand of TRS, BJP and CPI for adoption of resolution on Telangana in the Assembly, he evaded a direct reply, saying there were several issues affecting people that had to be discussed in the House.
APPSC row
Mr. Naidu met Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and urged him to revamp the APPSC after dismissing five of its six members whom he branded as Congress workers.
