Among the six themes given to the students on the spot to draw paintings on Thursday here during The Hindu Young World Painting Competition, the theme ‘The world without technology’ elicited enthusiastic response from the contestants.

Among the 230 senior category students, most of them chose this topic.

The judge and popular drawing master Bapiraju selected K. Lalitha Madhuri as the best artist among seniors and K. Praneetha among juniors.

Speaking to The Hindu , Ms. Madhuri said that disaster management was the need of the hour and one could not imagine a world without technology.

Delighted

Her painting depicted how the days were without technology and how changes took place after technology revolution. She earlier participated in Iskcon’s painting competition and got a certificate. “I am delighted to get the first place,” she added.

Moturi Dharshith, who came second had bagged several gold and silver medals in the past and he took ‘At the village market’ as the theme.

His guru and father M. Srinivas, an art and crafts teacher at Satya Sai Gurukulam, encourages him to draw at least one drawing a day.
