The Hindu awareness drive on consumer rights

The Hindu , in association with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL,) will conduct an awareness campaign on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day.

Chief Divisional Retail Sales Manager, Vijayawada division office, Sourav Lal said a ‘Check & Fill’ campaign will be run at IOCL outlets. Deputy Controller of Legal Metrology Ramkumar will deliver a talk on consumer rights at the Narayana Prasad IOCL outlet in Autonagar on Thursday (March 15).

Chairman of the Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA), APIIC, Sunkara Durga Prasad, will be present.

Also, members of Advocates Association for Social Responsibility and Awareness (AASRA) will organise a ‘Walk for Rights’. Ministers Prathipati Pulla Rao, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao and Nakka Ananda Babu, Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang, Collector B. Lakshmikantham and others will participate in the rally, which begins at 5 p.m., from PWD Grounds, said Consumer Court Judge R. Madhava Rao here on Wednesday.

Later, the AASRA advocates and the consumer forum members will conduct an awareness meeting on consumer rights at Seshasai Kalyanamandapam.

Mr. Madhava Rao, who is also the District Consumer Forum president, said the Vijayawada Consumer Court stood top in disposing cases.
