Hyderabadi pilot, Syeda Salva Fatima’s financial crisis in going for advance training has blown over. The Telangana government has come forward to pick up the bill. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday handed over a letter sanctioning Rs. 35.5 lakh to Ms. Fatima to undergo Multiengine Rating and Type Rating course.

Following a report in The Hindu highlighting Ms. Fatima’s plight, Congress MLC Farooq Hussain brought it to the notice of the Chief Minister who went through The Hindu report and decided to help her. Mr. Rao responded positively when the director, Minorities Welfare, verified the financial status of Ms. Fatima and found the family income to be ‘very low’. Her father, a bakery worker, and husband who worked in a private company, couldn’t afford the huge fee for the training.

On Tuesday, the Chief Minister handed over the letter to Ms. Fatima.

The financial assistance of Rs. 35.5 lakh will be released to the Telangana State Aviation Academy where Ms. Fatima would undertake Multiengine Rating training. Later, she will join the Air India Central Training Establishment at Ferozguda in Balanagar to undergo Type Rating on Air Bus A-320.

With her wish to reach for the sky realised, Ms. Fatima is eagerly looking forward to the Multiengine Rating training. “The report in The Hindu helped me a lot. I can’t believe it”, Ms. Fatima said and thanked the newspaper.
