June 28, 2013 11:10 pm | Updated June 07, 2016 09:37 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Minor Irrigation Minister T. G. Venkatesh has expressed himself against any proposal by the Congress high command to carve out a “Rayala-Telangana” State.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, he, however, hastened to say that he would not fight with the high command if Rayala-Telangana State was formed but would make efforts to convince the leadership on its negative impact.

A known integrationist and leader of Rayalaseema Aikya Vedika, the Minister termed “unjust and unfair,” any proposal to divide Andhra Pradesh.

If the State continued as it was now, all regions would benefit equally in all respects.

Rayalaseema was the most backward region in the State, he said, referring to the Sri Krishna Committee report.
