Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that he is not unduly worried about his political future.
“I am for united Andhra Pradesh because I am concerned about the future of the people of AP and the Telugus,” Mr. Reddy said in an interview to a television channel on Thursday after the legislature adopted the resolution moved by him to reject the AP Reorganisation Bill 2013.
“People and the State are more important to me than holding position of power,” he said adding that the Centre should seriously reconsider its stand on bifurcation in the wake of the resolution being adopted.
“Delhi cannot decide the future of Andhra Pradesh and the Telugu-speaking people,” the Chief Minister said.
Referring to the adoption of the resolution, he said voice vote had its own significance in democracy.
“When two Houses of the legislature reject the draft Bill, the President should not send it to Parliament,” Mr Reddy said. The State legislatures mirror the views of the people.
