‘Sahithi Sravanthi,’ a city-based literary organisation has conducted ‘Nela Nela Vennela’ literary meet at the Gandhi Bhavan here. Noted poet and president of the organisation Addepalli Rammohana Rao presided over the function. Theatre artiste P. Sitarama Raju spoke on themes and structures of Telugu playlets. Citing examples from popular playlets, Mr. Raju said that the Telugu theatre was giving priority to theme and structure and the legacy had been continuing for generations.

Poet Pasumarthi Padmaja Vani, in her speech on short-story writers from northern Andhra region, referred to versatile characters portrayed by writer Ganteda Gowri Naidu in his short stories. She said that the dialect of north Andhra region was quite different from that of the other parts of the State and the short story writers made use of the distinction in their works.

Poet Yarramilli Sarada spoke in detail about the poetic beauty of the literary works penned by her father Vakkalanka Lakshmipathi. She recalled that her father mentioned about the scenic beauty of Konaseema in all his works. A ‘Kavi Sammelanam’ was held in which poets recited their poetry woven around the theme of summer season.
