Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has indirectly kicked off electioneering for the ensuing general elections by announcing several sops to the people after Telangana state is carved out, hoping to secure more than 100 Assembly and 16 Lok Sabha seats.
Participating as the chief guest at the training classes for the party cadres of Huzurabad Assembly constituency, held under the supervision of legislator Etala Rajender in Jammikunta town on Thursday, Mr. Rao said that the Telangana statehood was betrayed due objections raised by Andhra parties, he urged the party leaders to reject the Andhra parties in the coming elections to realise their dream of separate Telangana state.
Reiterating that a Dalit would be made Chief Minister of separate Telangana state, he announced sops such as providing three acres of land to Dalits, compulsory free education from primary to post-graduate level, construction of two-bedded houses in 400 square feet to the homeless and pension of Rs. 1,500 per month to widows, aged and disabled persons.
He also announced crop insurance to farmers by taking village as a unit. He said that they would also waive loans up to Rs. one lakh to all the farmers and also include the same in the election manifesto. He said that they would set up steel plant at Bayyaram to provide employment to local youth.
They would create 24 districts in separate Telangana state to provide more employment to the youth. He also said that they would generate additional power with the available resources in the Telangana state. Former Minister Kadiam Srihari alleged that TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu had obstructed the formation of separate Telangana state on December 10, 2009, in coordination with Congress leaders Lagadapati Rajgopal and J.C. Diwakar Reddy. He also alleged that Mr. Naidu had encouraged the artificial agitation and resignations of legislators in the Seemandhra region to obstruct the formation of Telangana state.
He said that the TDP letter submitted to the all-party meeting on separate Telangana state was nothing new and it does not contain anything demanding the formation of Telangana state. TRS leader Deshpath Srinivas entertained the gathering with his speech and songs.
