Police foiled a bid by Telangana Electricity Employees JAC and Telangana JAC to stage a protest in front of Vidyut Soudha here on Saturday. Leaders of TEJAC, TJAC, TRS and BJP were arrested.

Attempts to stage the protest were made twice as TJAC chairman M. Kodandaram, TRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao, BJP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy and others gave a slip to the police after they were picked up by the police initially stating that the protest had no permission.

The police earlier arrested TEJAC president K. Raghu and A Dayakar of TJAC for their bid to disrupt the traffic by staging a demonstration at the entrance of Vidyut Soudha. The TJAC leaders initially stated that the dharna was planned to protest the illegal arrests during the ‘Chalo Assembly’ programme on Friday but later they said the protest was to press for resolving the problems of electricity employees.

The leaders of TJAC, TRS and BJP were allowed to enter the premises to talk to AP Transco MD Hiralal Samaria on the matter. Meanwhile, at a meeting held in the evening the TJAC leadership has decided to move a public interest litigation (PIL) in the High Court against the repressive measures adopted by the Government during the Chalo Assmebly on Friday.
