Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Monday said the Centre was interested in taking a quick decision on the demand for creation of separate Telangana and consultations with the various stakeholders were still on. The issue was not closed yet.
Talking to journalists here, Mr. Shinde, replied to a question: “It (Telangana demand) is not a closed chapter. We are discussing it.
The issue is open because we have to do this way or that way.”
No time limit
To another question on when a decision was likely to be announced, he shot back: “There is no limit,” he said. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Botcha Satyanarayana, who visited the capital after the party high command called him to hold discussions on the Telangana issue, said he had expressed his views to various leaders whom he met.
Though he could not meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Shinde, he was able to meet Congress general secretary in charge of AP and Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC treasurer Motilal Vohra, senior party leader Digvijay Singh and Union Minister of State for Tourism Chiranjeevi.
