Parents allegedly strangle their daughter using a ‘chunni’ for marrying against their wishes
Software engineer, Pachala Deepthi (26), who married her colleague Ananthapalli Kiran Kumar against the wishes of her parents, was killed in a planned manner, alleged the kin and friends of Kiran Kumar.
A native of Rajendranagar in Guntur, Deepthi got married to Kiran Kumar on March 21 in Hyderabad. Her parents brought Deepthi and Kiran to Guntur on the next day, and allegedly strangled her to death in their house on Sunday. Speaking to The Hindu on Monday, Kiran Kumar’s friends alleged that Deepthi’s murder was pre-planned. They said her parents — Hari Babu and Samrajyam — pretended as if everything was fine and took their daughter home on Sunday morning. “After reaching home, Deepthi was beaten up badly and strangled to death by her parents. Later, they fled the place. She was killed brutally for ‘honour’. They planned it in such a way that Deepthi was taken home alone,” said Kiran’s friend preferring anonymity.
Pattabhipuram Circle Inspector Sk. Bilaluddin said an altercation ensued between Deepthi and her father over her marriage. In a fit of rage, Hari Babu thrashed her and she fell down. Later, he strangled Deepthi with a ‘chunni’.
