The Telangana Teachers Joint Action Committee has decided to continue the indefinite strike by teachers till an announcement about formation of Telangana State is made.

The decision was taken here on Wednesday at the extended meeting of the executive committee comprising 21 teacher organisations.

The meeting resolved to organise visits to villages by its members on October 13 and 14 to sensitise people about the need for separate State.

They would also participate in rallies on October 15 and stage silent demonstrations all over the region on October 17. MLCs B. Mohan Reddy and K. Janardhan Reddy and Progressive Teachers Union president P. Venkat Reddy were present, a press release of the committee said.

The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF), in a separate statement, said the rally proposed by it here on Saturday demanding scrapping of the apprentice system for teachers was postponed indefinitely in view of rail roko agitation.
