Claiming that the byelection to the Nandyal Assembly seat is not a referendum on the government, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdary said the TDP would win by a big margin.

Talking to newsmen here on Saturday, Mr. Chowdary dismissed the allegation of the YSR Congress Party that the TDP was influencing the voters by offering them huge sums of money.

Mr. Chowdary said the Election Commission was monitoring the developments keenly to assure a fair election. To a question on the government spending crores of rupees for the development of Nandyal ahead of the byelection, Mr. Chowdary said the government focused on the development of all the Assembly segments in the State and there was no scope for sanctioning more funds for Nandyal. “People have a lot of faith in the TDP government and the Chief Minister,” he added.
