TDP national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stone at 5.17 a.m. on Sunday for the party’s central office building near Atmakuru village in Guntur district. After performing ‘bhumi puja’, he unveiled a plaque.

It is targeted to complete the construction of the building before the general elections in 2019. The party plans to construct three buildings in an extent of 3.6 acres. The administrative building will have G+four floors. The offices of the national president and national secretary will be on the fifth floor and that of the State president and general secretaries on the fourth floor.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Naidu said the TDP would strive for the development of the both the Telugu States. Stating that workers and leaders would have to take part in the construction of the building, he advised them to shed old ways of politics and, instead, embrace new systems and think innovatively. “Each activist should consider the party as his own. Each of them should be a role model for the others. The TDP office should be the care of address for self-respect and confidence,” Mr. Naidu said.

Stating that it had been a tradition of the TDP to serve food to every worker visiting the party office, Mr. Naidu said a fixed fund would be created for the same soon.

Welfare activities

TDP national general secretary and Panchayat Raj and IT Minister N. Lokesh said the office building would be completed in nine months. The TDP was the only party that created welfare fund for its workers. The credit for it should go to Mr. Naidu, he said. This apart, the party was also running a school at Gandipet in Telangana for the benefit of children of poor party workers, he added.

TDP Guntur president G.V. Anjaneyulu announced a donation of ₹11 lakh for the construction of the building. TDP youth leader Devineni Avinash announced ₹10 lakh for the construction of the office. Many other leaders also announced their donations for the cause.

TDP State president and Energy Minister Kimidi Kala Venkat Rao, TDP TS president Ramana, and Union Ministers were present.

The TDP office in Guntur was set up on a temporary basis after bifurcation.
