Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu said that his party will extend its support to a coalition that is firm on rooting out corruption and bringing to book leaders found guilty of irregularities.
He alleged that the 10-year tenure of the Congress-led UPA coalition had seen to it that corruption became all pervasive as was evident from the numerous scams including coalgate, commonwealth games, Adarsh, mining deals and Jala Yagnam.
But the UPA had failed to initiate action against the guilty as a majority of them, including senior leaders like Vilasrao Deshmukh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra, were from the Congress.
“We will support such political party that will ensure confiscation of properties of the like of Robert Vadra and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy,” he said. There was no attempt to book cases against senior leaders and Ministers who were found guilty of charges and prosecute them.
He pooh-poohed the statement of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on eliminating corruption and said the UPA that was in “deep slumber” all the 10 years was trying to divert the attention of the people from the core issue of corruption by such claims. After encouraging corruption and diluting enforcement agencies, the Congress Government was trying to interfere in the affairs of the States as could be seen from the “snoopgate”.
Replying to queries, he welcomed the anguish expressed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Moadi over the Godhra riots claiming that political leader should create confidence among the people.
“The Congress doesn’t have the magnanimity to admit its failures,” he said.
He was non-committal when asked whether his party would support the NDA or the third front.
“There is need to stop the Congress dramas as public interest is at stake. Things will unfold soon,” was all he said. On Aam Admi Party forming government in New Delhi with the help of the Congress, he said AAP convener Arvind Kejrewal should be careful after seeking such support keeping past experience in mind.
The Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI) opened an ‘International patient wing’ on its premises in Banjara Hills.
The facility comprises 38 beds along with ICUs, operation theatres and patient rooms.
The facility took five years to complete, and costing about Rs. 35 crore, was inaugurated on Saturday by the TDP chief.
Mr. Naidu said that the centre will henceforth provide quality health care also for patients coming from abroad.
