A five-member delegation of Telugu Desam legislators called on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and urged him to invite TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu to form the government in Andhra Pradesh State in the wake of his election as TD Legislature Party leader.
The delegation consisted of Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K.E. Krishnamurthy, Mandali Buddha Prasad, D. Narendra Kumar and P. Sujatha.
Later talking to reporters, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that they had submitted a letter to Mr. Narasimhan, informing him that Mr. Naidu has been elected unanimously as TDLP leader and requested the Governor to invite him to form the government and swear-in as the Chief Minister.
He said Mr. Narasimhan sought details regarding the time, place and date. The required information would be submitted to him by Thursday evening, he added.
The TDP leader is planning to organise a grand swearing-in ceremony between Vijayawada and Guntur, opposite the Acharya Nagarjuna University on June 8 evening. He has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all the Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of 11 States and leaders of various political parties to the event.
Replying to a question on loan waiver for farmers and others, Mr. Ramakrishnudu asserted that nobody need entertain any doubts and the scheme would definitely be implemented. All the financial commitments would be met.
He said the United States of America was the “biggest borrower” in the world, but was a major country. Similarly, Japan too has debts. He said Mr. Chandrababu Naidu was capable of managing the economy and there would not be any problem. The government led by Mr. Naidu did it in the past in 1995, he added.
Senior legislator Mr. Narendra Kumar said people have full faith in Mr. Naidu and he would set a new benchmark in the development of the region.
