BJP MLC Somu Veerraju on Tuesday alleged that Opposition parties such as the Congress and the Left, some intellectuals and the TDP, its ally, have been trying to check the growth of the BJP in the State for the last several years.

Addressing BJP Mahila Morcha meeting here on Tuesday, Mr. Veerraju said sitting in Hyderabad, TDP leaders gave a letter in support of bifurcation of the State and in Andhra, they participated in the Samaikyandhra movement, which exposed their contradictory stand. Former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar and other Congress leaders who did not ask for anything for the State during the bifurcation, were now listing their demands, he alleged.

Mr. Veerraju said the NDA government had time till 2022 to implement its promises made during bifurcation, but the TDP was accusing the BJP of doing injustice to the State.

The BJP government has kept 85 % of its promises and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also complimented the Centre on this achievement in the past.

‘A new drama’

He termed YSRCP leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s proposed move to move a no-confidence motion the NDA government a new drama.

He asked Mahila Morcha representatives to counter the campaign against the BJP. Bommula Dattu, party city president, Tangella Padmavati, Mahila Morcha city president, general secretary Kondapalli Satyaveni and others participated in the meeting.
