The TDP polit bureau meeting has decided that its representatives will ask the Congress to disclose its stand on separate Telangana at the all-party meeting in New Delhi on December 28.
The party named Yanamala Ramakrishnudu from Seemandhra and Kadiam Srihari from Telangana as its representatives for the meeting. Its decision on Telangana will be handed over in a letter written by party president N. Chandrababu Naidu to Union Home Minister S. K. Shinde.
Long meeting
Mr. Naidu, who has been gathering opinion from party leaders of all regions, convened the polit bureau meeting here on Thursday to decide on the representatives and the party’s line. The meeting discussed for more than three hours the Telangana issue right from the constitution of Fazal Ali Commission to the recent by-elections in the region and other political developments after the advent of TRS.
Talking to reporters later, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said that they would demand that the Congress disclose its stand on Telangana after the Home Ministry seeks the opinion of all parties at the meeting. They want the Centre to resolve the issue as early as possible after the meeting, he said.
Reiterating that they would abide by the party president’s decision on Telangana, he said the party’s decision on Telangana would be disclosed in the form of a letter and the copies of same would be given to media immediately after the meeting.
Asked whether they would not give the letter if the Congress party failed to specify its stand, Mr. Ramakrishnudu said they would go ahead with it irrespective of the Congress’ decision.
