‘Leaders who made provocative speeches landed in jail’

TDP leaders have urged the Election Commission to take action against YSR Congress president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for his undemocratic remarks on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Mr. Jagan would not have dared to comment that the Chief Minister be hanged had action was taken when he asserted that Mr. Naidu be shot in public. Silence from the police would encourage the offenders to take undue advantage and commit more crimes, they said.

Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Friday said there was no space in democracy for leaders like Mr. Jagan and his party. Maoists, terrorists and extremists also did not make such comments. It was necessary to remember that leaders who made provocative speeches landed in jail, he said.

He said the Opposition leader had ‘false hopes’ that he would become CM if Mr. Naidu was shot. He could not become Chief Minister though he collected signatures from Congress leaders even before performing last rites to his father — Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he added.

Launching a diatribe against Mr. Jagan, HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, at another press conference, said, “There is a mental hospital in Visakhapatnam for people like Mr. Jagan. The TDP Visakhapatnam unit will make necessary arrangements to admit him in the hospital.”

‘YSR did nothing for Seema’

Information and Public Relations Minister K. Srinivasulu in Guntur recalled that YSR and Mr. Jagan were responsible for the backwardness of Rayalasema. The State government was making tireless efforts to develop the region industrially and also provide irrigation waters. Unable to digest the ongoing development, the opposition leaders were instigating the people and making baseless allegations, he added.

AP State Housing Corporation Chairman Varla Ramaiah said that Mr. Jagan, his advisor Prashant Kishor and others could be punished under IPC 120(B) and 124(A) for criminal conspiracy to topple an elected government. The DGP should initiate suo motu action against Mr. Jagan and Mr. Prasant Kishore, he said.

AP Mahila Corporation chairperson Panchumarthi Anuradha, AP State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. Chairman M. Linga Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Differently Abled and Senior Citizens Assistance Corporation Chairman Gonuguntla Koteswara Rao and others demanded action against the Opposition leader.
