Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao supported the Director General of Police’s statement that controlling Maoists would be difficult in a small State.
The official, as the head of the police organisation of a State, expressed his views on the law and order problem in a small State and also on the prevailing situation in Chattisgarh and Jharkhand, Mr. Veerabhadra Rao said in a statement on Friday.
It was not proper on the part of leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samiti and Congress to condemn the DGP’s statement and also some MPs stating that the official’s observations were anti-Constitutional, the MLC said.
It was necessary on the part of DGP of a State to explain to the people the law and order problems that would arise in a small State when the Government employees were openly participating in the agitation for a separate Telangana and two SIs of Uttarandhra having been suspended when they supported the Samaikya Andhra demand, the TDP leader said.
Mr. Veerabhadra Rao said the Rosaiah Committee to deliberate the issues and concerns for formation of Telangana or the Pranab Mukherjee committee should have conducted their business. He recalled that even Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy wanted the process of explaining to the people about the various issues like sharing water, running industries, etc., if the State was divided, should have started long time back.
Had the Rosaiah committee or the Pranab committee functioned and discussed with all sections of people, the State Government and Centre would have understood the actual opinion of people, the TDP leader said. Because these committees did not function, people became emotional and started agitations to express anger against the State and Central Governments, he said.
It was also not proper to force people to support a separate Telangana by terrorising business community, officials and film industry, he added.
