TDP leader Lal Jan Basha killed in road accident

Senior TDP leader Lal Jan Basha died in a road accident on Thursday.

Basha suffered serious injuries when the car in which he was travelling hit a road divider near Narketpalli in Nalgonda district, about 85 km from here. He died on the spot while his driver who suffered serious injuries was rushed to a private hospital.

Basha is a member of the TDP's politburo. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1991.

He, however, lost subsequent elections to Lok Sabha from Guntur and Narsaraopet constituencies.

Basha was later elected to Rajya Sabha. He served as politburo member of Telugu Desam Party and was currently its Vice President.

TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed shock over the tragic death of Basha.

TDP MPs N Harikrishna, C M Ramesh, Y S Chowdary, MLC Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and other senior leaders also mourned Basha’s death.
