Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader and Nagari MLA Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu experienced embarrassing moments when school girls, whom he was addressing as part of Samaikyandhra agitation, at Puttur on Sunday, clapped profusely whenever he uttered the names of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Jaganmohan Reddy, though his objective was to make allegations against them.

Local TDP leaders mobilised about 200 girl students from private schools at Puttur in the morning and they converged at the Ambedkar circle. Blocking the traffic for a while, the TDP cadres started addressing the girls, while a small crowd too was present. Whenever the cadres mentioned the names of YSR and Jagan, the girls clapped and shouted in a frenzied mood, without allowing them to complete the words meant to criticise them.

When Muddukrishnama Naidu’s turn came, he spoke eloquently about the hard work the Seemandhra people have put in to develop Hyderabad since six decades. No sooner than he began criticising YSR and Jaganmohan Reddy for allegedly cheating people and amassing wealth, the girl students took to hooting and clapping without letting Mr. Muddukrishnama Naidu complete the sentences. As it did not seem to end, he switched over to Sonia Gandhi, blaming her for State bifurcation for political gains to which the girls remained silent.

Though the meeting failed to completely serve the purpose, it surely managed to elicit laughter among the passersby.
