Former MLA and senior Telugu Desam Party leader Challa Ramakrishna Reddy, who recently refused to accept the APSRTC Kadapa regional chairman post, lashed out at Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday accusing him of offending his pride and dignity by lowering his stature.

Wondering what led to party leader Varla Ramaiah, who lost to a woman in the 2014 elections, being nominated as APSRTC chairman, he remarked at a media conference at Owk in Kurnool district that the regional chairmanship was below his stature. Recalling that as Opposition leader Mr. Chandrababu Naidu invited him into the party on the eve of 2014 elections promising MLC nomination, but he was overlooked in four MLC elections in the last four years.

Asserting that he contested from Dhone against the families of stalwarts such as former Chief Minister K. Vijayabhaskar Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy on the advice of TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao and won as MLA for three terms, he said Mr. Naidu owed an explanation for insulting him.

Decision soon

Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy said that Mr. Naidu sent an emissary to him as he did not respond to phone calls from the CM’s office. He said he would announce his decision after holding discussions with important leaders and his followers. Asked if he would quit the TDP, Mr. Reddy said he would give an appropriate reply shortly.
