With the induction of Sk. Abdul Aziz, who is Nellore Mayor at present, from the YSRC Congress to the Telugu Desam Party, the city unit of the TDP is now putting in all efforts to attract the minority vote bank to its side, which is evident from the good participation of minorities in its latest membership drive.
Mayor Sk. Abdul Aziz began taking the lead in attracting minorities in different areas in the city to the TDP fold. As part of this effort, Mr. Aziz, along with his brother and corporator Jaleel, organised a huge public meeting in the interior Kotamitta area where the minority voters were in sizeable numbers. He invited all the main leaders of the TDP to the programme.
In the presence of TDP senior leaders Adala Prabhakar Reddy, Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy and former MLA Mungamuru Sridhar Krishna Reddy, the mayor’s team led a group of minority residents to join the TDP.
As per the party city unit, the TDP would stand to score over all other parties if it could get good base in the areas where the major vote bank were minorities. After the recent elections, the party wanted to regain the lost ground in different segments by taking up special programmes.
Stating that there was overwhelming response to the membership drive, Mr. Aziz said the people trusted the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He said that industrial and capital development would bring in a lot of difference in the lives of people here.
