The Telugu Desam Party has criticised YSR Congress president and Opposition leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for trying to obstruct the development of international airport at Bhogapuram to protect his real estate interests.
Andhra Pradesh TDP president K. Kala Venkata Rao alleged that over 1,000 acres in the proposed 5,300 acres was in the possession of three individuals including 125 acres owned by Mr. Jagan. The extent of lands owned by the Opposition leader could be gauged from the fact that the Enforcement Directorate had attached 125 acres few kilometres away from the proposed airport belonging to Mr. Jagan.
“Mr. Jagan should clarify about the extent of lands he owns in Bhogapuram and surrounding areas in benami,” he said. The protest planned by the Opposition leader exposed his “immature” politics and lure for getting into power.
He said that the State Government had planned an international airport at Bhogapuram as it would kick start development in the backward Vizianagaram District. The Government had ensured payment of Rs.24 lakh to farmers and another Rs.12 lakh to those owning the patta lands. This was in addition to the 633 acres of land in its possession.
