‘Tarpanams’ to Sir Arthur Cotton, C.P. Brown

In a unique way, ‘pinda pradanams’ were offered to great people like Sir Arthur Cotton, who designed the lifeline barrage for both Godavari districts, C.P. Brown, the first Britisher who compiled the first bilingual Telugu dictionary, and Adikavi Nannaya Chakravarti.

C.P. Brown Mandiram of Rajamahendravaram observed the programme on the fourth-day of Godavari Antya Pushkarams and its president Sannidhanam Sastry along with former MLA Rowthu Suryaprakasha Rao offered ‘pinda pradanams’ to the legends. MLC Somu Veerraju attended the ritual.

‘Tarpanams’ were also offered to Havelock, who constructed Havelock bridge across the river Godavari, Kandukuri Veeresalingam Pantulu, noted writer Sripada Krishnamurthy Sastry, folk writer Nedunuri Gangadharam, Madhunapantula Satyanarayana and Madhura Krishna Murthy Sastry.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Veerraju and Mr. Suryaprakasha Rao said that the people of Rajamahendravaram forever fondly remember the great leaders.

Pilgrim rush drastically came down on Thursday due to continuous rain.
