The State government has appealed to the opposition parties to rethink on the bandh call given by them.

The government also wanted them to join hands with the Telugu Desam Party to put up a united fight in Parliament to save the interests of Andhra Pradesh.

The opposition parties announced a State bandh on Thursday to protest against the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget. Addressing the media at the Secretariat on Wednesday, BC Welfare Minister K. Atchannaidu said people would suffer as a consequence of the bandh. Hence, the Left and other political parties should rethink in the interest of the people. Though the Left parties had no representation in the State Assembly, they had members in Parliament. They were requested to shift their fight to Delhi and mount pressure on the Central government, the Minister said.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was striving for the development of the State. The government could attract investors from across the globe. At this juncture, it was necessary to further the reputation of the State, he said. Social Welfare Minister Nakka Ananda Babu said the protests should be staged in Delhi as it would draw the attention of the entire nation. “They can register their protest in the State and join hands to launch a untied fight in Delhi,” he added.
