Mounting pressure on legislators and Ministers to submit resignations, separate Telangana activists organised demonstrations in front of the houses of three MLAs and a Minister in Hyderabad on Thursday, urging them to join the ongoing struggle for formation of a separate Telangana State.
Members of the Advocates Joint Action Committee laid siege to the house of the Labour Minister Danam Nagender at Banjara Hills and squatted on the road demanding his resignation.
Police made elaborate security arrangements at the houses of legislators and Ministers as the Telangana Joint Action Committee had already announced the programme of demonstrations.
Police prevented the advocates from entering the house of Mr. Nagendar, took them into custody and shifted them to Golconda police station later.
Over 50 supporters of the Minister, who were inside the house, came out after the advocates were evacuated and raised slogans praising Sonia Gandhi and Mr. Nagender.
Another group of pro-Telangana activists, led by TRS leader, Nayani Narsimha Reddy, went to the house of Musheerabad MLA, T. Manemma, in Banjara Hills though additional policemen were already deployed there. Mr. Reddy and other agitators were taken into preventive custody after they tried in vain to break the police cordon and enter the MLA's house.
Activists of TRS and Students JAC agitated in front of the house of Qutbullapur MLA, Kuna Srishailam Goud, urging him to resign his post. One more group staged a sit-in in front of the house of Uppal MLA, Raji Reddy, with similar demand. Agitators were taken into preventive custody and let off later.
Tension
Meanwhile, tension prevailed in different parts of Medak district on Thursday when similar protests were held by TRS activists and Telangana protagonists.
Heavy security was provided at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha in Sangareddy to prevent the agitators reaching there.
Protestors were held when they tried to attack the house of Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy at Zaheerabad.
Similarly, the activists stage a protest in front of Women and Child Welfare Minister V. Sunitha Lakshma Reddy's residence at Gomaram in Shivampet mandal. The agitators succeeded in breaking the two-layer barbed wire fencing erected by the police in front og Patancheru MLA T. Nandeeshwar Goud's house. Police caned the protestors to disperse them.
The police prevented a confrontation between the agitators and supporters of Sangareddy MLA T. Jayaprakash Reddy as the latter prepared themselves to take on the agitators.
